Day 2: Vail Village 

​From Minturn we went straight to Vail Village to check out the shops and restaurants. The first place we went was Vail Brewing Company. The tasting room is small, but quaint. We sat outside and soaked up the sun. Nothing beats drinking good beer with the sun on your face.

Vail Village isn’t huge, so we were able to check out half the shops before we stopped for lunch. The shops are your typical resort type shops. Lot of ski clothing places, as well as souvenir shops. Below is a picture of Mike’s favorite find, as well as a new friend he made. 

For lunch we stopped off at Red Lion and sat on their large patio. Couldn’t pass up another opportunity to drink beer with the sun on your face. I apologize for not having any pictures of our food, we were starving. Mike had a chicken parmesan sandwich with fries and I had a gyro with a salad. I really enjoyed mine, but Mike’s was just ok with the exception of the fries. The fries were really good, if you like shoestring fries. 

 We were getting ready to leave when we decided to sneak down on more street. Thank goodness we did because that street led us to 10th Mountain Distillery. The father of one of the founders was one of the original 10th Mountain Soldiers. My favorite was the cordial, Alpenglow. There are so many uses for it that aren’t drinking. 

After warming ourselves from the inside out we headed back to the room to warn ourselves from the outside in by sitting in the hot tub. We wanted to relax for a bit before heading to dinner. What’s for dinner you ask…sushi. Sushi oka and hibachi is amazing! I apologize for not having pictures of everything we ate. We ate a lot, so be prepared…we started with the tuna avocado tower and then moved on to miso soup, halibut sashimi, and 3 rolls. Our first roll was the Rock & Roll, which is a low-carb roll wrapped with cucumber. It comes in five pieces, so it’s a little hard to share but we made it work. Our second roll was the Firestarter and it’s a fiery goodness. It has spicy tuna, jalapeno, and siracha. So good! Our final roll was the Angel (I think) and it was made with rice paper instead of seaweed and rice. Below is a picture of this goodness.

Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Vail Village.  Tomorrow we are heading to Dillon. Good night y’all.
